Champions Trophy is an ODI tournament contested between the top 8 teams in the ICC rankings. One of the premier tournaments in the game, its stature is 2nd only to the World Cup.
Between years 1998 to 2006, it was held every 2 years. While the next edition was held after a gap of 3 years in 2009. The latest edition was held in 2013 in England which was a massive success.
A big surprise will be the exclusion of 2004 edition of tournament winner West Indies who were pipped out by Bangladesh during the cut-off qualifying period of the Champions Trophy.
With India and Australia both having very well-balanced sides, they are favorites to win their 3rd title. However, the advantage of playing on home turf lies with England who also have some of the renowned game changers. But the biggest dark horses are South Africa with likes of ABD, Amla, Rabada, etc. they are the team to watch out for.
However, one of the biggest match of the tournament is set to take place on 4th June when India play against their arch-rivals Pakistan. And boy it is always a cracker of a game. And this time it’s Pakistan that leads India 2-1 int the scoreline.
